What is Somatic Experiencing?
 

Somatic Experiencing® is a gentle, body-based approach that helps you notice and work with the sensations, impulses, and rhythms of your nervous system. Instead of pushing through or overthinking, we slow down and listen. Together we create conditions for the body to release stress, restore flow, and return to its natural wisdom.
 

  • Build steady somatic awareness — noticing what you feel, where you feel it, and what it asks for.

  • Increase ease, presence, and aliveness.

  • Unwind stress and survival patterns stored in the body.

  • Support transitions, grief, and life change with more resilience.

  • Rebuild trust with your body — at your pace, with full consent.

Who Is This For?

This work is for women who long to:

  • Feel less overwhelmed, frozen, or “stuck”

  • Move from numbness or overthinking into embodied presence

  • Soften anxiety, burnout, or people-pleasing patterns

  • Cultivate boundaries, self-trust, and pleasure

  • Integrate grief, heartbreak, or significant life transitions

    We take our lead from the pace of your body. The body leads, we go slowly, and you remain in full choice at every step.

What a session looks like

A 45-minute session is simple and spacious:

Arrive & settle — brief check-in, orienting, and breath to arrive in the room.

Track sensations — noticing what’s present (tingling, tightness, warmth, impulse to move, etc.).

Work with sensations — to understand, honour, and release what your body is holding.

Complete impulses — allowing natural movements or micro-shifts that want to finish.

Integrate — reflect, name what changed, and choose a small take-home practice.
 

You remain fully clothed. Touch is never used without clear consent (many sessions are effective with no touch at all). You do not have to retell difficult stories; we follow the body’s pace.

What you will leave with

  • 1–2 simple practices to keep building capacity between sessions

  • Language to describe what your body is communicating

  • A felt sense of more space, steadiness, or aliveness (this can be subtle and grows over time)

  • Consent-led: You are always in charge of pace and depth.
  • Trauma-informed: We track your nervous system and stay within your window of tolerance.

  • Practical: Insights translate into small, doable practices.

  • Respectful of story: Welcomed if helpful, never required.

FAQ's

Is this therapy? SE complements therapy and medical care, but is not a substitute.

Can this work be done online? Yes, SE can be effective online or in-person (Victoria, BC).

What should I wear or bring? Comfortable clothes, water, journal, shawl — whatever helps you feel at ease.

Do I have to tell my story? No. We focus on sensations; you share only if it feels supportive.

How many sessions do people usually need? Some feel shifts in 1–3 sessions; others prefer ongoing support.

Will I have practices between sessions? Often you’ll receive 1–2 simple exercises to build steadiness.

What if I feel uncomfortable or overwhelmed? We follow your body’s pace. You are always in choice, and we pause whenever needed.

Is touch involved? Not necessarily; most sessions are effective with no touch. If used, it is always with clear consent.

About Your Guide

I’m White Crow / The Grief Tendress™ — a women’s somatic educator and grief tending guide. My background includes certification from the Women’s Somatic Institute, training with the Darkwoods of Grief, and certification from the Grief Recovery Institute.
 

More importantly, I bring years of experience supporting women to meet life’s initiations through the body — with care, dignity, and skill.
